Woodpeckers After-School Club offers childcare from 3 – 6pm, Monday to Thursday, throughout the school term. It has four members of staff on duty.
The club meets in the ‘Woodpecker room’ adjacent to Class 4 and the library. From here the children have direct access both to the library and to the orchard at the front of the school which is secured for outdoor play.
All children are offered a healthy snack (fruit or a plain biscuit) and a drink at the beginning of the session. We also have a fully-equipped kitchen in which we prepare a light meal for children staying after 5pm.
We recognise the importance of relaxing after a busy day at school. The sessions are largely unstructured and child-led. There is access to the library, use of the school’s computers, a stock of board games, craft-based activities and access to the outdoors with plenty of space to run around and use PE and ‘Huff and Puff’ equipment.
Sessions cost £8 per child. In addition children staying after 5pm are required to have the light meal served at that time for which there is an additional charge of £2. If your child is not having tea, then they will need to be collected at 5pm.
Invoices are issued monthly in arrears. We are able to accept child-care vouchers.
Bookings should be made through the school office (01264) 860384; by e.mail to: firstname.lastname@example.org; or by returning the attached form. Bookings can be made for the whole academic year or term by term. We can also accept bookings on an ad hoc basis if there are spaces available on the day.
If a child is collected more than 5 minutes after the scheduled closing time of after-school club (currently 6pm) this will be discussed with the parent/carer and assurances gained about non-recurrence. School will not accept bookings from parents who persistently collect children late.
