A Welcome from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am delighted to welcome you to Wherwell Primary School.  Our commitment is to provide children with the best opportunity to learn and develop as rounded happy individuals in a comfortable yet stimulating environment.

At Wherwell we firmly believe that every child is an individual but also part of a diverse community. Just as every child is unique, so their experience of education will be. We believe that children learn best when they feel secure and happy, which is why we aim to provide a safe and nurturing environment.

A child’s first experience at school is very important and should be as far as possible a home from home. Our dedicated Reception classroom and separate free flow play area reinforces learning through play with both indoor and outdoor activities. Our highly experienced reception team ensure all children feel safe and cared for as they begin their learning journey.

As children progress through the school we aim to provide them with an education which will allow them to develop into balanced, well-rounded learners and caring, responsible and tolerant people. Within this experience the school can boast a number of particular strengths; firstly in sport where we have had success in a number of tournaments in recent years, and secondly in music where two-thirds of our junior pupils, and a number of infants as well, play a musical instrument.

Our school website has been produced to provide you with specific information about Wherwell Primary School and also the mandatory procedures which are common throughout Hampshire.  Whilst this may not answer all of the questions you will have about school matters and the time your children will spend at the school, I hope it will serve as a useful introduction and as an open invitation to contact me in order to discuss any questions or concerns you may have.

I would welcome the opportunity to show you around our school, meet our teaching team and see for yourself how we integrate the needs of a progressive primary education into a fun and interesting rural environment.

We believe the responsibility for the education of children is a partnership between home and school, and all of the staff of Wherwell Primary School look forward to establishing a close and friendly relationship with you over the coming years.  Working together we can ensure your child is happy and thrives as we develop the building blocks for a broad and rounded education.
