Beaulieu - Residential 3 - 7 April

This great experience has finally started. The children left yesterday and they had a glorious sunshine welcoming them at the Out of Town Centre. During this week, the children will take part in a number of educational experiences including feeding and caring of animals, visiting the Trust's woodland centre in Hartford Wood and at Buckler's Hard, Palace House and Beaulieu Abbey.

We will update pictures as we can of everyday's new adventures. Enjoy!

Day 4 - Another glorious sunny day. Once farm duties were completed, they went to the source of the River Beaulieu to conduct a stream survey.

Day 3 - Its a Sunny morning on the Farm followed by a visit to the Motor Museum and an afternoon of shelter building in the forest. At the end of a busy day they enjoyed a camp fire.

Days 1 and 2 - Safe arrival and a good start of the day. First Activity birdwatching

Art - Danielle Buetti

The children have been using this Swiss artist techniques to produce some impressive work of their own. Their work involved finding and printing and image. They then created patterns by pricking holes through the picture with a pin. Finally the picture is backed with cellophane to affect the colour of the resultant patterns.

Winners of Netball Tournament

Wherwell were the winners at another sporting event. This week it was the turn of our victorious netballers, who competed against other schools in the cluster at Test Valley School and once again made us proud. Not only they came in first but also showed outstanding team spirit and sportsmanship. Well done to Amelia, Gwen, Luciana, Laura, Brenna, Alex, Eben and William.

Their great skills and strong team work paved their way to an astonishing win filled with numerous goals. Many congratulations to Luciana, Gwen, Laura, Amelia, Sophie, Zoe and Sammy for their hard work and their first place gold medals.

Sports Ambassadors

The children in class 5 were given the opportunity to select four students (2 from year 5 and 2 from year 6) to become a Youth Sports Trust Bronze Ambassador to represent Wherwell Primary School.

Many congratulations to Sam and Isla from Y5 and Eben and Luciana from Y6, who were voted by their peers. The Bronze ambassador role is maintained for this academic year. Their first engagement was to attend a training day at Test Valley School to give guidance and training on how to be best within their new role. They will now be the young people's voice on PE and School Sport at Wherwell Primary School.

Italian Lunch

Every week the children are busy with the planning and implementing of this social initiative. This week, Brenna, Suzannah, Laura and Luciana planned an Italian lunch including garlic bread with cucumber an houmous for starters, pepperoni pizza for their main meal and ice cream with strawberries for pudding. Together they decided on their menu, they did their cooking and shared a lovely time. Thank you to Mrs Childs for keeping an eye on them, we are very lucky to have so many parents willing to help and a beautiful kitchen where children's minds and culinary skills can expand.
