Woodpeckers After-school Childcare

Welcome to the Woodpeckers After- School childcare.

Woodpeckers After-School Club offers childcare from 3 – 6pm, Monday to Thursday, throughout the school term. It has two members of staff on duty. Children can be collected any time before 6 pm.

Facilities

The club runs in the library which can be accessed via the footpath at the front of the school and then via the main reception door. Gates are kept locked and the children are supervised when outside.

Parents are encouraged to provide a snack, or if preferred, a packed tea, particularly for children staying until 6pm. Water bottles can be re-filled.

It can be very dark in the village. Please have a torch to hand when collecting in the winter after 4pm.

Not all children are able to cope with longer days and the school therefore reserves the right to refuse entry to Woodpeckers. We will always discuss this with the parents/carers first.

Activities

We recognise the importance of relaxing after a busy day at school.   The sessions are largely unstructured and child-led.  There is access to the library, use of the school’s computers, a stock of board games, craft-based activities and access to the outdoors in warmer weather.

Charges

From 3.10 – 4pm - £5

From 3.10 – 5pm - £10

From 3.10 – 6pm - £15

Payment for clubs should be made in advance via our on-line system. We are able to accept child-care vouchers.

Bookings

Bookings can be made for the whole academic year or term by term.   We can also accept bookings on an ad-hoc basis if there are spaces available on the day.

If a child is collected more than 5 minutes after the scheduled closing time of after-school club (6pm) this will be discussed with the parent/carer and assurances gained about non-recurrence. School will not accept bookings from parents who persistently collect children late.

Not all children are able to cope with longer days and the school therefore reserves the right to refuse entry to Woodpeckers. We will always discuss this with the parents/carers first.

  • bookings can be cancelled, without penalty, up to 1 calendar month in advance – so, for example, to cancel a place booked for 1 June we need notification by 1 May;
  • for cancellations received a full week in advance, (eg cancelling a Monday session must be received by the previous Monday) 50% of the full session fee may be charged;
  • un-cancelled places or sessions cancelled with less than one week’s notice may be charged at the full price.
