Why do we teach Computing?
- Preparation for the future - We want to prepare our pupils for today's world and the future. It is a key skill required in their future workplace and to be active participants in a digital world.
- To build knowledge and skills - We want to provide a framework of computing knowledge and skills: The core principles of information and computation; how digital systems work; and how to utilise this knowledge through programming.
- To develop problem-solving skills - We want to teach our children analytical and problem-solving skills in computational terms: It allows pupils to solve problems; design systems; and understand the power and limits of human and machine intelligence.
- To foster digital literacy - We want our children to become digitally literate: enabling children to use technology; to express themselves and develop their ideas through information and communication technology; teaching children to be responsible digital users; and to understand how to keep themselves safe online.
